UAV'08
International Symposium on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
June 23-25, 2008
June 23-27, 2008     Caribe Royale Resort and Conventon Center     Orlando, Florida
CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
The main objective of UAV'08 is to bring together different groups of qualified representatives from the FAA, Government Agencies, DHS, military, funding agencies, industry and academia to discuss the current state of UAV advances, the roadmap to their full utilization in military and civilian domains, but also present current obstacles, barriers, bottlenecks and limitations to flying autonomously UAVs in civilian space. As such, UAV risk analysis assessment, safety, airworthiness and certification issues are of paramount importance and central to the Symposium objectives.

The Symposium aims at discussing focused interests of diverse groups involved in UAV research and development, their priorities and challenges, with the expectation to identify projects of common interest, and key milestones that need be achieved towards wide acceptance and applicability of UAV technology. A key and essential focus will be current and future research opportunities, needs and funding in UAV related technologies, as seen from the potential sponsors’, industry’s, military’s and FAA’s point of view, as well as from the researchers’ point of view.

Through keynote addresses, invited and solicited presentations, it is expected that the outcome of the Symposium will be a clear understanding of what industry and the military need, and what needs be done in accordance with, and in compliance with FAA rules, regulations and procedures, paving the way towards flying UAVs in civilian space. After the Symposium, and in addition to the CD-ROM Proceedings, a ‘book document’ will be published that will include specific recommendations and procedures to overcome existing barriers and limitations, facilitating wider use of UAVs. The Symposium will be a two-day, single track event, with half-day devoted to a workshop like panel discussion on “Current and Future Opportunities in UAV Technologies”.
